Raj Ghat

Located on the banks of the Yamuna River, Raj Ghat is a black-marble platform that marks the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi. Though the samadhi is uncovered, it is enclosed by a brown stone-wall with Gandhi-ji’s sayings inscribed on it. A stone pathway that leads to the memorial runs along well-kept lawns. Gandhi-ji’s last words, β€œHey Ram”, are inscribed on the black marble, which is decorated with yellow marigolds. An eternal flame, perpetually burning in one corner, pays homage to the father of Indian Independence.
